​The scent of aged paper and dust lingered in the air as Daniel drifted through the cramped aisles of the antique bookstore, his fingers brushing over cracked leather spines until one slender volume seemed to call him. He opened it carefully, the yellowed pages whispering as they turned, when a folded slip of parchment slipped free and fluttered to the floor. Kneeling, he unfolded it with curious hands - and found, written in delicate ink, a love note so intimate and raw it felt as though the words were meant for him, though they had been penned decades before.
